Carbon footprint training for Investment Management Firms

Description

WHY ATTEND

Carbon accounting has rapidly grown in significance over recent years. Investors are increasingly analysing the ESG credentials of organisations and even the financed emissions of assets and instruments. The introduction of TCFD has created mandatory disclosure of climate related financial information for some financial institutions. For others it will be within the next few years. In short, having a robust emissions strategy should be considered part of BAU and even part of risk modelling. It is demonstrating resilience and strategy to stakeholders in response to environment and behaviour change.

This course covers an introduction to carbon accounting, specifically operational reports for financial institutions, and explores why this is now essential practice.

Learn what data to collect and how to report it according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Moving forwards, it will offer guidance on decarbonisation plans and employee engagement. There will also be an introduction to carbon offsetting and the benefits of being a carbon neutral company. There will then be a session on how to communicate this process both internally and with stakeholders.

The course will include a brief introduction to calculating financed emissions; those associated to assets within a portfolio. This is often the next step firms take after calculating their own operational footprint. The session will include an introduction to the methodology and process, as well as the value this data offers:
