This half-day training course will provide a masterclass on how we can work with politicians and policy makers, sharing principles for shaping communications, including the importance of brevity and persuasion. It will use an interactive and practical style, encouraging participants to apply the learning to their own public affairs/government relations objectives.
It is suitable for a wide range of professionals in the industry – not only those working directly in public affairs and government relations roles, but those involved in policy development, press, communications, General Counsel and investment management.

SPEAKERS
Carys Davis, Owner/Director, The Other Place Public Affairs Ltd
Carys is a public affairs consultant and trainer, with experience working across industries and in charities, trade associations and the private sector. Until early 2016 she ran the FCA’s public affairs team, with previous experience in the charity sector, party policy and in Parliament. She trained as a journalist and holds a First Class MA in Human Rights. She was a Parliamentary Candidate in the 2010 General Election.
Carys specialises in public affairs strategy and delivery for trade bodies, charities and academics and in Select Committee training – particularly for high-profile, media-intense appearances. Clients include Dods Training, the UN Food & Agriculture Organization, the UN Economic & Social Commission for Western Asia, the European Investment Fund, StepChange, Key Group, the Motor Neurone Disease Association, the British Printing Industries Federation, Bournemouth University and Reading University.
