Introduction to Government Affairs
Description

This session will focus on the role and purpose of government affairs activity; how to navigate key political moments; and the types of tactics that can be used to make yourself heard in Westminster. It will be of particular interest to those who are new to government affairs, or who are starting to take responsibility for government affairs alongside another function. More experienced members are also invited to learn alongside their teams, and to take the skills back to their colleagues.
KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Understand more about how working with government and politicians can help to shape the environment in which asset managers work
- Learn how to decode the political environment, and understand what it means for business
- Recognise who your top political and government stakeholders might be, and how you can reach then.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
- Government Affairs teams, including those new to the function
- Wider teams (including communications, regulatory and legal) who would like to expand their government affairs knowledge
- Business advocates and policy experts who are deployed in Parliament and Whitehall to explain companies’ positions.
