An effective Board report is a strategic extension of day-to-day information-gathering and provides the platform on which boards can work with management to add real value and to gain a critical understanding of the business. Providing the Board with the correct information informs better strategic decision making, builds trust and ultimately allows the Board to have better conversations, but few Board members actually know what a good Board pack looks like. More importantly, whether the information and decision support that Board members receive will enable them to discharge their duties. This session will explore what s172 and the Corporate Governance Code say about Board information, what is it your duty to seek as a director, and how you can change your board information so it helps you better discharge your duties.
Key learning objectives:
- Knowing what to expect from your Board materials
- Understanding what it is your duty to ask for
- Identifying steps that you can take to improve your Board information
