As part of the Global Investment Futures campaign and in collaboration with the Investment Association, the City of London Corporation and the Department for International Trade, the IA Engine is again pleased to invite you to this in-person event as we celebrate innovation on a global stage.

In the face of economic uncertainty and turbulent market conditions, the need for investment managers to create efficiencies and improve client engagement has never been more pressing.

Engine’s mission is to enable investment managers to unlock opportunities through accessing cutting edge technology, and our flagship event at London’s historic Guildhall will explore new dimensions of innovation through technology in a collaborative and informative space.

The event will feature solution showcases from 10 innovative FinTech firms that have, or will be, participating in the Engine Innovator Programme, and we will hear from industry leaders on topics such as:

Join us for a pre-event session that brings together physical audiences from the UK and Singapore into one panel. Hear the latest on innovation in investment management from the Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS). 

In the face of turbulent market conditions, the need for investment managers to create efficiencies and improve client engagement has become more critical than ever. In this masterclass, we seek to help participants understand new innovations and access cutting edge technology in order to unlock new opportunities and chart the path of future growth in investment management.

This masterclass will explore the growing role of tokenisation and the pathway to a DLT-native fund space. Thought leaders will also share perspectives on the next generation of artificial intelligence, the impact of ChatGPT and how we can best harness developments in AI to create fresh opportunities for investment management. Julia Streets, Founder & CEO, Streets Consulting

In 2007, she incorporated her business Streets Consulting, the business development, marketing and communications consultancy. Since then she and her team have advised a wide range of international firms in the field of fintech, capital markets, investment management, and payments innovation, and specialist offerings including NFTs, digital assets, tokenisation, blockchain, artificial intelligence and more.
Prior to founding Streets Consulting, Julia was global head of communications at NYSE Technologies, serving on the Executive Committee, and European head of marketing and sales development at Instinet.
Julia is the host of ‘DiverCity Podcast’ talking about diversity, equity and inclusion in financial services. Now in its 14th series, DiverCity Podcast has listeners in >50 countries and is ranked one of the world’s top DE&I podcasts. She is also the host of CityAM’s Impact AM Live show, Shell’s Energy Podcast and host of ‘Metaverse: What matters?”, recorded in the metaverse.
She is an advisor, mentor and investor and is called upon to chair many of the world’s leading conferences drawing not only on her industry experience, but also on her skills as a speaker, host and sell-out stand up comedian.

Chris Cummings, Chief Executive, Investment Association

Chris Cummings is the Chief Executive of The Investment Association, a post he has held since September 2016. The Investment Association is the trade body that represents UK-based investment managers.
He is a member of HM Treasury’s Asset Management Taskforce, and was a founding member of its Financial Services Trade & Investment Board. He serves on the Chancellor’s Financial Services Industry Advisory Group and Department for International Trade’s Financial Services Trade Advisory Group. He is a Board member on EFAMA, the European trade association for investment management and is a member of the Regulation Committee of IIFA, the international association for investment management. He is also a Trustee of Just Finance Foundation.

He was previously a member of the Financial Conduct Authority’s Regulatory Decisions Committee, a Settlement Decision Maker for the Payment Services Regulator. He served on the Foreign & Commonwealth’s Diplomatic Excellence Panel.
Before joining The Investment Association he was the founding CEO of TheCityUK, held senior posts in banking, insurance and consulting with major global firms. He is a regular columnist, commentator and speaker on issues of international competitiveness and regulation in financial services.

Tim Gaumer (CFA), Director of Fundamental Research, Refinitiv an LSEG business

Tim is the Director of Fundamental Research. He held the same position at StarMine, a company acquired in 2008.With more than 20 years of experience conducting fundamental analysis, Tim is widely regarded as an expert helping fundamental investors apply innovative quantitative research in their investment process. Tim previously worked at several buy-side and independent research firms as an equity analyst, portfolio manager, and director of research.
Tim is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in Corporate Finance.
Tim Gaumer is included in the CFA Institute Approved Speaker List.

Hugh Gimber, Global Market Strategist, J.P. Morgan Asset Management

Hugh Gimber is a Global Market Strategist at J.P. Morgan Asset Management based in London. He is responsible for generating research-driven analysis on the global economy and markets, and communicating this to clients and the media across the UK and Europe. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Hugh worked as a multi-asset investment strategist at the BlackRock Investment Institute.

Alderman Nicholas Lyons, Lord Mayor of the City of London 

Alderman Nicholas Lyons took office as the 694th Lord Mayor in November 2022. After reading history at Cambridge University, he joined Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York in 1982 before working with Salomon Brothers and Lehman Brothers. He specialised in advising banks and insurance companies on mergers and acquisitions and raising capital. He held a series of global leadership roles at Lehman Brothers, retiring in 2003 to begin a plural career, sitting on the boards of many financial institutions and numerous charities. He is currently taking a sabbatical from being Chairman of the FTSE 100 company Phoenix Group Holdings.

John Macpherson, Chair IA Engine, Chairman/ Non exec/ Senior advisor to a number of FinTechs

An innovative and entrepreneurial, values-oriented business leader, with the ability to harness deep commercial experience to deliver change and growth across cultures and geographies. Possessing an outstanding record of delivery in client and product centric businesses. Very experienced in B2B and SaaS models. A strong and compelling communicator, possessing excellent stakeholder skills. Expertise in turning vision into actions with a proven track record of success in the private sector alongside experience of the public sector. Nina Jones, Head of Adviser Experience, Fidelity International

Nina Jones is Head of Adviser Experience for Fidelity International. Her role is responsible for the experience of approximately 5000 IFAs who use the Fidelity Adviser Solutions platform. Her key aim is to build a market leading adviser experience, so that IFAs who use the Fidelity Adviser Solutions platform find it easy and reliable to do business with as well as feeling they are in a trusted partnership.
Nina is also the Journey Lead for the Fidelity ReRegistrations and Transfers client experience which brings together multiple skillsets and teams from across the Fidelity organisation in order to deliver an improved client and adviser ReRegistration and Transfer experience. Over the past 20 years, Nina has held multiple customer experience roles across several industry sectors, focusing on both direct to consumer as well as business to business relationships. All of her roles have been focused on helping companies achieve sustainable growth and profit through embedding a client centric approach. Nina’s most recent roles before joining Fidelity in 2019, were Director, Global Owner Experience for Jaguar Land Rover and Director, Customer and Partner Experience for Microsoft UK. Nina lives in Newbury, Berkshire, however, spends as much time as she can travelling the world and having new experiences! She is a member of the Tate Gallery but also enjoys running and has recently discovered HIIT classes in the local park which she attends come rain or shine!

Kate Rosenshine, Global technology Lead, Microsoft

Kate is a part of the Strategic Partnerships team at Microsoft, where she leads the Global Digital Native Technology team, focusing on the intersection between business and technology to build long-term strategic value. Her team is responsible for developing and executing strategies to support expansion and scale through cloud technology. Before joining Microsoft in 2017, Kate worked at start-ups in Israel and the UK, where she led technology-focused teams. Kate started her career in bio-technology research, focusing on big data and genomics. Kate was a member of the AI Public-Private Forum (AIPPF), led by the BoE and FCE, aimed at facilitating dialogue between the public and private sectors to better understand the use and impact of AI in financial services. Kate holds a MSc in Molecular Biology and an MBA from Tel Aviv University.

Dr Jonathan Lipkin, DirectorPolicy, Strategy and Innovation, The Investment Association
Jonathan is Director of Policy, Strategy and Innovation at The Investment Association (IA) and a member of the IA management team. 
Jonathan’s policy role focuses on how the industry serves its customer markets. This includes areas such as products and competition; fund communications and governance; and the long-term savings and pensions regimes in the UK and internationally. He also works closely on the IA’s broader strategic positioning and leads its programme to support industry innovation.
Jonathan joined the IA in 2005, becoming Director of Public Policy and a member of the IA Executive Committee in 2012. Prior to 2005, he worked for a number of years at Oxford Analytica, an international consultancy. At OA, he led the European political and economic analysis serving a wide range of domestic and overseas clients, both corporate and governmental. 
Jonathan is a Board Member of the Cost Transparency Initiative, Chair of the EFAMA Pensions Group and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Asset Management Research at Bayes Business School. He writes and speaks regularly both in the UK and abroad on investment management and pensions issues

Ravi Bhalla, Head of Department-Innovation - Data & Technology, Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)

Ravi Bhalla is Head of Department for Innovation within the FCA.  He provides leadership across seven key functions across his department.  This includes the FCA’s Innovation Hub which houses a number of market innovation services including Innovation Pathways, Regulatory Sandbox and the Digital Sandbox.  Secondly, a digital and data services function which aims to leverage a digital test environment for internal and external use cases.  Thirdly, a regulator engagement function with domestic and international regulators through bilateral and multilateral agreements.  This includes chairing the Global Financial Innovation Network (GFIN) and championing the Global Sandbox.  Fourth, the RegTech and SupTech function which encourages the development of new technologies to solve regulatory challenges for firms and supervisory organisations.  Fifth, an emerging technology function which researches emerging trends which influence the intersection of data, technology and financial services.  Sixth, an Artificial Intelligence team which works with domestic regulators and think tanks to further the discussion in this area. And finally, a change and development function which aims to drive our internal and external change agenda including branding, marketing and communications He is a high- impact enterprise-level senior leader with over 17 years of management experience across telecoms, insurance and financial services in both industry (BT, AIG, Barclays, HSBC and Lloyds Banking Group) and consulting (KPMG). Ravi was previously Head of Group Design, Strategy & Transformation for Lloyds Banking Group where he led an  in-house strategy and transformation consulting function at Lloyds Banking Group. This has included shaping strategic initiatives such as customer vulnerability, architectural simplification, advanced analytics, cloud operating model design, regulatory change design and operational resilience. During his time at KPMG, Ravi worked with a number of challenger banks and FinTechs and played a pivotal role in establishing KPMG’s FinTech practice. Ravi has received a number of awards, including the Barclays Gold Experience Award, the Lloyds Banking Group Leadership: Inspire Delivery Award and the Lloyds Banking Group Leadership: Inspire Collaboration Award. He was selected  for the Lloyds Banking Group executive leadership talent programme, which is for colleagues who demonstrate the attributes and potential to attain an executive-level position. Ravi holds a BSc (Hons) in Business Management from the University of East Anglia and an MA in Management, Economics and International Relations from the University of St. Andrews. Ravi has published a number of articles in internationally peer reviewed journals, including most recently a co-authored paper with University of Cambridge, Judge Business School Fellow, Elisabetta Osta entitled ‘Digital Transformation and the Covid challenge, (March 2021) Journal of Digital Banking as well as individual publications ‘FinTech Innovation: Revolutionary or Evolutionary Business Model Disruption?’ (2019), Journal of Digital Banking; ‘The 12 Point Customer Engagement Model’ (2013), Journal of Brand Strategy; ‘Omnichannel: Driving Engagement through Digitization’ (2014), Journal of Digital Banking.

Chandini Jain, CEO, Auquan

Chandini is the CEO of Auquan. Auquan enables clients to get an accurate, transparent view of the sustainability and impact of a company’s entire operations, across ownership and supply chain. Auquan uses state of the art NLP to surface hidden red-flags, track controversies and map action against ESG goals from self reported and third party data.
Prior to Auquan, Chandini previously worked as a trader at Optiver and Deutsche Bank.

Layla White, CEO, TechPassport

Layla White, CEO (https://www.linkedin.com/in/laylamiller/) Layla is a female founder of a Saas based FinTech marketplace, TechPassport. She has over 10 years + experience working in vendor facing roles within Tier 1 banks, including commercial management, vendor management and procurement. An example of such roles was as Global Vendor Manager at DB, reporting into the Head of Network Infrastructure for Oracle and Dimension Data, where she worked with the business team to drive cost saving by understanding the strategic business goals and then realising them by working with the suppliers to achieve it. Notably, Layla reported in to the Global Head of Vendor Management at Deutsche Bank, where she was responsible for an audit point, requiring her to redesign the governance structure across group CIO in terms of information processing, handling and cost optimisation. After successfully creating and executing this cost saving workflow.

John Allan, Head of Innovation and Operations Unit, The Investment Association
John is responsible for the Innovation and Operations Unit which aims to build the industry’s innovation capacity through IA policy development on technological change, DLT, crypto and AI, as well as promoting fund modernisation and supporting firms on operational policy including resiliency. John is also a fixed member of the FCA’s Innovation Advisory Group bringing the regulator’s attention to key issues impacting the investment sector and fintech.

Max Lamb, Head of EMEA, Saphyre
Max Lamb CFA is Head of EMEA for Saphyre.  Max’s experience covers operational leadership roles, running transitions and client onboarding businesses for global asset managers, custodians and investment consultancies.  Never happier than when modernising things, Max spends much of his time at Saphyre talking with market participants about the benefits of a single fully synchronised source for client reference data and workflows.  Away from work, Max drives his children to endless places and inbetween fits in some cycling, with probably too much coffee and cake.

Hadi Badri, CEO, Economic Development at Dubai Economy and Tourism DET 

Hadi Badri is the Chief Executive Officer of Economic Development at Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET)

Hadi has held various management roles at Emaar Properties, including as CEO of Emaar International ($1.5bn Revenue, $0.4bn EBITDA), Group Chief Strategy Officer at Emaar and Chairman of Namshi ($0.4bn Net Revenue). Prior to joining Emaar, Hadi was a Principal at Bain & Company, where he led a range of complex strategy and organization projects across industries.

He was also an investment professional at The Carlyle Group and Dubai International Capital. Hadi has served as a Board Director for Emaar Properties in 15 companies across Real Estate, E-commerce and Hospitality, including Emaar’s real estate development businesses in India, Turkey, Pakistan, Morocco and Jordan, Namshi (Fashion E-commerce) and Rove Hotels (Hospitality).

Hadi has also served as a Board Director at Sandooq Al Watan (Private Sector Not-for-profit) and Rivoli Group (Retail) and as a Member of Investment Advisory Committees at Middle East Venture Partners (Venture Capital) and Carlyle MENA Partners (Private Equity). Hadi is an honors graduate in Economics from Tufts University in Massachusetts, USA.
