WHY ATTEND
The Investment Association are hosting a webinar on Thursday 25 January in collaboration with Linklaters LLP to discuss the latest developments in EU digital policy making, including the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), the EU AI Act and the EU’s Framework for financial data access (FIDA).
Latest news in EU digital policy developments includes:
- On 08 December 2023, the European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, EIOPA and ESMA – the ESAs) launched a public consultation on the second batch of policy mandates under the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).
- On 09 December 2023, European Parliament and Council negotiators reached a provisional agreement on Artificial Intelligence Act.
- On 28 June 2023, the European Commission put forward proposals to introduce Open Finance across the EU.
This webinar will provide an overview of these developments and explore their implications for investment management, with an opportunity for Q&A. If there are particular questions you would like to pose, please send them to us in advance by Monday 22 January. There will also be an opportunity for members to ask questions during the webinar.
SPEAKERS
Raza Naeem, Financial Regulation Partner, Linklaters
Raza is widely regarded as a specialist in a number of financial services regimes including ESG, MiFID, Brexit, PRIIPs, AIFMD and UCITS.
Raza has also led on and contributed to a number of trade associations, industry forums and Linklaters roundtables / briefings on these topics. Raza is particularly involved in the ESG space and chairs the internal Linklaters’ global ESG working group. He also works closely with the broader Linklaters practice areas, providing regulatory coverage in areas such as derivatives, structured products, funds and employment matters.
Simon Treacy, Senior Associate, Linklaters
Simon helps clients anticipate regulatory trends and developments in financial services. He writes regular and ad hoc briefings and thought leadership for clients, as well as producing innovative knowhow for Linklaters lawyers. He provides interactive training on financial services regulation, including horizon scanning sessions.
His current areas of focus include the operational resilience regimes in the UK and EU (DORA), the UK’s post-Brexit regulatory framework, and fintech and payments. Other areas of expertise include the Senior Managers Regime, safeguarding of client assets and AI in financial services.
Simon has spearheaded the development of Linklaters Law Compare, an interactive tool which helps Linklaters lawyers and clients navigate divergence between the EU and UK rulebooks. Simon also produces and hosts Linklaters podcasts on payments regulation and operational resilience.
