The IA Sustainability and Responsible Investment Conference 2022
The Investment Association is pleased to invite you to its fourth annual Sustainability and Responsible Investment Conference on Tuesday, 24 May.
Description
.
WHY ATTEND
Building on the experience and success of previous events, the conference programme this year is designed for investment management professionals grappling with the complexities of sustainability and responsible investing, including shaping policy, raising client awareness through clear communication and disclosures and exploring the wider role investment managers play in a more sustainable economy, society and planet.
The last few years have been significant. We have witnessed dramatic growth in demand for responsible investment products and experienced a period of intensive policymaking to implement key pieces of new regulation, such as the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation. This has sparked a step-change in how financial services, governments, markets and society engage with sustainability. We are now at a critical point in terms of the future of sustainable finance rules here in the UK and indeed on the path to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
The ambitious policy agenda is attempting to balance multiple objectives: decisive climate action, growth of the market and innovation of products, global competitiveness, positive outcomes and protections for consumers, and a regulatory approach that captures the opportunities but also adequately addresses the risks. This has created a complex regulatory landscape which is broad in scope and rapidly changing, requiring the investment management industry to reconsider the investment process and how we make disclosures relating to sustainability and responsible investment.
Please join us at the conference to hear from policy makers, industry pioneers and practitioners, who are shaping sustainable finance and responsible investment products and policy today. We plan to cover topics which are central to investment managers, including:
- The UK Sustainable Disclosure Requirements, the UK green taxonomy and investment fund labels and classification;
- The influence of international sustainable finance policy;
- The regulatory requirements and emerging best practice around climate disclosure by investment managers; and
- Beyond climate: the definition and measurement of social, governance and other environmental factors that might be overshadowed by the intense focus on climate change, e.g. biodiversity.
