This presentation will cover:

11:15 Scaling Sustainable Products: Operationalising Labelling and Classification with Data and AI

Sustainability labels and classifications are central to product design and investor communication, yet applying them consistently across fragmented regulatory regimes - from the UK’s SDR to the EU’s SFDR and Taxonomy - remains a major operational challenge for investment managers.

This session explores why sustainability labelling often proves difficult in practice, highlighting the underlying challenges in data, governance, and portfolio-level processes. It will show how firms can move from reactive, manual approaches to scalable and auditable product labelling workflows supported by robust data infrastructure and AI-enabled automation.

Speaker: Rory Robinson, Head of UK Sustainability, d-fine

11:35 Navigating the Patchwork: How Investors Can Interpret Sustainability Labels and Categories Across Key Markets.

As sustainability‑related regulation accelerates around the world, investors are increasingly confronted with a complex and fragmented landscape of sustainability labels, product classifications and regulatory expectations. From the UK’s Sustainability Disclosure Requirements framework, the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) to emerging approaches in other markets, the question of how to interpret, compare and apply these frameworks in practice has never been more pressing.

This panel will explore the rapid development of sustainability labels and categories globally, examining how different regulatory regimes are shaping product design, disclosures and investor decision‑making. Speakers will reflect on the evolution of SFDR in the EU, the challenges posed by divergent interpretations of sustainability classifications across jurisdictions, and the steps being taken in other markets where regulators are advancing work on fund labelling and tackling greenwashing to improve clarity and consumer trust.
Chaired by Carol Thomas, Director of Sustainability and Responsible Investment at the Investment Association, the discussion will also consider how investors can navigate this patchwork of rules and labels and communicate clearly with clients in an environment of increasing scrutiny.

We will consider the lessons learned from the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s asset manager and asset owner taskforce, and emerging thinking on how best to assess and manage physical climate risks at the asset level. 14:50 Afternoon Break and Networking

15:20 Fireside Chat: Realigning Stewardship: Delivering Sustainable Value Through Stewardship

In recent years, the stewardship framework in the UK has faced scrutiny regarding its impact on economic growth and international competitiveness. This has led to some stakeholders to question the value of stewardship and whether there was always sufficient focus on financially material issues. To consider these issues, the Investment Association established a Stewardship Working Group, with membership from its Investment and Stewardship Committees. The aim of the group was to set out how the industry conducted stewardship given its unique position responding to client expectations and engaging with investee companies and the challenges that the industry currently faces in delivering on these stewardship expectations.

Miranda and Andrew will discuss the key findings of the Working Group includes the key challenges and recommendations for change. They will also consider how the industry should take stewardship forward to deliver on client expectations and deliver sustainable long-term value.

Andrew Ninian, Director, Stewardship, Risk and Tax
Miranda Beacham, Head of UK Responsible Investment, Aegon Asset Management (AAM UK)

15:45 Panel: From Transition to Transformation – Scaling Sustainable Infrastructure Through Private Markets

As economies move from ambition to execution on net zero and climate resilience, the scale, speed and nature of infrastructure investment requires more than incremental change. Private markets will play a decisive role in bridging funding gaps, driving innovation, mobilising long-term capital at pace, sharing risk, and partnering with public framework. Doing so raises important questions about risk, returns, policy alignment and real-world impact.

This panel will explore the mechanisms that enable blended finance, the role of policy in unlocking investment, and the strategies investors use to balance returns with impact.
Through a practical case-study, the panel will consider how private markets in collaboration with the public sector can move from supporting the transition to actively enabling transformation, and what this means for investors seeking to deploy capital at scale while supporting resilient, sustainable growth.

Moderator: Namita Kain, Head of Private Markets, The Investment Association
Amy Jenkins, Deputy Director Private Investment, Industrial Strategy, & Blended Finane, Clean Energy Investment Directorate , Department for Energy Security & Net Zero
