Chris Cummings, Chief Executive, The Investment Association
Chris Cummings is the Chief Executive of The Investment Association, a post he has held since September 2016. The Investment Association is the trade body that represents UK-based investment managers.
He is a member of HM Treasury’s Asset Management Taskforce, and was a founding member of its Financial Services Trade & Investment Board. He serves on the Chancellor’s Financial Services Industry Advisory Group and Department for International Trade’s Financial Services Trade Advisory Group. He is a Board member on EFAMA, the European trade association for investment management and is a member of the Regulation Committee of IIFA, the international association for investment management.
He was previously a member of the Financial Conduct Authority’s Regulatory Decisions Committee, a Settlement Decision Maker for the Payment Services Regulator. He served on the Foreign & Commonwealth’s Diplomatic Excellence Panel.
Before joining The Investment Association he was the founding CEO of TheCityUK, held senior posts in banking, insurance and consulting with major global firms. He is a regular columnist, commentator and speaker on issues of international competitiveness and regulation in financial services.
Keith Skeoch, Chairman, The Investment Association
Keith Skeoch is currently Chair of the Investment Association, Chair of the ring-fencing and proprietary trading independent review panel, Interim Chair of the Financial Reporting Council, Chair of the Aberdeen Standard Investments Research Institute, a member of the UK Takeover Panel and Chair Designate of the Edinburgh International Festival. Keith is also a Trustee of the Standard Life Foundation.
Keith joined Standard Life Investments (SLI) in 1999 as Chief Investment Officer and was appointed Chief Executive of that division in 2004 and to the main board of Standard Life plc following demutualisation in 2006. Keith led the exponential growth of SLI in terms of assets under management, geographic footprint, revenue stream, organisational capability and brand strength. He was appointed CEO of Standard Life plc in 2015 and then as CEO of Standard Life Aberdeen (SLA) having led the separation of the life business to Phoenix in 2018 and the subsequent formation of a global, focussed and capital light investment house. Keith stepped down as CEO of SLA in September 2020.
Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
Kwasi Kwarteng was appointed Secretary of State at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on 8 January 2021.
He was previously Minister of State at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Kwasi was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Exiting the European Union from 16 November 2018 to 24 July 2019.
Kwasi read classics and history at Trinity College, Cambridge, and then attended Harvard University on a Kennedy Scholarship. He earned a PhD in economic history from the University of Cambridge in 2000.
Before becoming a Member of Parliament, Kwasi worked as an analyst in financial services.
Kwasi was elected the Conservative MP for Spelthorne in 2010. From 2010 until 2013 he was a member of the Transport Select Committee, and in 2013 he joined the Work and Pensions Select Committee where he was a member until 2015.
In October 2016 Kwasi joined the Public Accounts Committee, where he was a member until May 2017.
In 2015 Kwasi was appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Leader of the House of Lords, and in 2017 he became Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Katharine Braddick, Director General, Financial Services, HM Treasury
Katharine Braddick is Director General for Financial Services at the Treasury, leading on all aspects of policy for Financial Services and Financial Stability.
Katharine joined the Treasury in 2014 as Director, Financial Services (International), before which, she had spent a decade in financial services regulation at the FSA and, latterly, the Bank of England where she was Director of Prudential Policy.
Katharine began her career as a fast stream civil servant at the Department of the Environment and has also worked at the Association of British Insurers.
Julia Hoggett, CEO, London Stock Exchange plc
Julia Hoggett took up the post of Chief Executive Officer of London Stock Exchange plc on the 14 April 2021. Prior to this position, Julia was the Director of Market Oversight at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), responsible for overseeing the conduct of participants in the primary and secondary markets in the UK. Julia joined the FCA as Head of the Wholesale Banking Supervision Department in May 2014.
Before joining the FCA, Julia was Managing Director and Head of FIG Flow Financing and subsequently also Covered Bonds, Short-Term Fixed Income Origination and Green Debt Capital Markets for EMEA at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML). Prior to joining BAML Julia was a Board Member and latterly CEO of DEPFA ACS BANK in Ireland and responsible for the long-term funding of the DEPFA BANK Group.
Earlier in her career, Julia worked at JP Morgan in DCM origination roles covering Sovereign, Supranational and Agency clients and before that Sovereign and sub-Sovereign clients in Emerging Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Julia has a degree in Social and Political Sciences from Newnham College, Cambridge University and undertook a research scholarship at Kings College, Cambridge University focused on public policy and economic development strategies in East Africa.
Julia was named one of Financial News’ 100 Most Influential Women in Europe’s Financial Markets in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Julia was also named on the OUTstanding Top 50 list in 2013 and in its successor the Top 100 list in 2014. She has been an active speaker in the City on Diversity and Inclusion for much of the last 20 years.
Anne Richards, Chief Executive Officer, Fidelity International
Anne joined Fidelity International as CEO in December 2018 from M&G Investments where she was CEO and a director of its parent company Prudential plc. Anne was appointed a Director of FIL Limited in September 2019. She has worked in the asset management industry since 1992. Anne has almost three decades of experience as an analyst, portfolio manager and CIO and is a strong proponent of ESG investing. Her career path spans many blue chip global names in the financial sector including Alliance Capital, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Aberdeen Asset Management.
Sally Wong, Chief Executive Officer, Hong Kong Investment Funds Association
Sally Wong is the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association, which is a non-profit-making organization that represents the asset management industry in Hong Kong. She represents the industry in liaising with the authorities, legislators, media and other stakeholder groups to discuss issues that have implications to the Hong Kong mutual fund market and the Mandatory Provident Fund (“MPF”) Schemes market. She also takes an active role in investor education and research initiatives.
Mrs. Wong is a member of the 8th Steering Committee on ChinaBond Indices Experts of the China Central Depository and Clearing Co., Ltd. and a core member of the China Ageing Finance Forum 50. She is a Vice President of Hong Kong Green Finance Association (“HKGFA”) and is the Co-chair of ESG Disclosure and Integration Working Group under HKGFA. She sits on the SFC Committee on Real Estate Investment Trusts, the SFC Public Shareholders Group, MPF Guidelines Committee. She sits on the Board of the International Investment Funds Association (www.iifa.ca). She was a member of the Hang Seng Index Advisory Committee.
Petr Wagner, Deputy Head of Unit - International Affairs, European Commission
Petr Wagner is currently Acting Head of Unit for International Affairs in the European Commission's Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services, and Capital Markets Union.
Lawyer by education, he started his professional career in the private sector before joining the European Commission in 2005, where he worked in the Directorate General for Internal Market, in the area of public procurement policy, negotiating the WTO Government Procurement Agreement and then moving to financial services.
From 2015 to 2018, Petr represented the EU (DG FISMA) as Finance Counsellor at the EU Delegation to the USA in Washington D.C.
Back at the Brussels headquarters, he joined the insurance unit until 2019, then he was appointed Deputy Head of unit of DG FISMA International affairs, with as a main task the handling the negotiations with the United Kingdom in the area of finance.
Petr holds a Master degree in European law from the College of Europe in Bruges and a Master degree from the Palacký University in Olomouc (Czech Republic).
Galina Dimitrova, Director, Investment and Capital Markets, The Investment Association
Galina is a Director of Investment & Capital Markets at the Investment Association (the “IA”) and a member of the IA Executive Committee.
In her role, she has overall responsibility for the IA work on investments and capital markets, including quality of asset classes, such as Equity, Fixed Income, FX, Infrastructure and Private Markets. She also has oversight of all IA Special Committees and ETFs, as well as all trading, market infrastructure and investment operations’ matters relevant to IA members.
Central to her portfolio is helping members with the evolving Sustainability & Responsible Investment landscape and working together towards an economy, society and planet fit for the future.
Galina has over 10 years’ experience as an investment banker focusing on financial institutions. She is a member of the UK Risk Free Rate Working Group, the ICE LIBOR Oversight Committee, the Bank of England FX Joint Standing Committee and TheCityUK Board of Directors.
Sarah Gordon, Chief Executive, Impact Investing Institute
Sarah Gordon is the first chief executive of the Impact Investing Institute, which launched in November 2019. The Institute exists to accelerate the growth and improve the effectiveness of the impact investment market in the UK and internationally. Previously, she spent 18 years at the Financial Times, where she ran the paper's corporate coverage during the financial crisis, and was business editor. Before journalism, she worked in fund management in the UK and the US, and at the UN Conference for Trade and Development in Geneva. She is a non-executive director of Social Finance, a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute and a visiting professor at Kings College London.
Stephanie Pfeifer, CEO, Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change
Stephanie has led the IIGCC since 2005 and has overseen its expansion into a pan-European investor group during that time. Stephanie also sits on the Steering Committee of the Climate Action 100+ initiative.
Prior to her role at IIGCC, Stephanie worked in investment banking for over 7 years, including as senior economist at Morgan Grenfell and a VP at Deutsche Bank in London. She holds an MSc with distinction in Environmental Studies and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University and an MA in Economics from Exeter University.
Amber Rudd, Trustee, Climate Group
After a career in business Amber Rudd became the Member of Parliament for Hastings and Rye from 2010 to 2019.
She held three cabinet roles over 4 years and under 3 Prime Ministers, first in Energy & Climate Change, then the Home Office as Home Secretary and until September 2019 in Work and Pensions.
Amber was appointed Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change in 2015 and led the UK team to the successful completion of the Paris Climate Change Agreement. This UN sponsored Conference of the Parties (COP 21) achieved the first ever legally binding global commitment to reduce national carbon emissions.
She has become a Trustee for The Climate Group (www.theclimategroup.com) working with businesses and Government to promote tangible climate action.
Mark Versey, CEO, Aviva Investors
Mark is CEO of Aviva Investors and a Director of Aviva Investors Board.
Mark joined Aviva Investors in 2014 and was appointed CEO in January 2021. Previously, he was Chief Investment Officer for Aviva Investors Real Assets from its formation in May 2018, during which time the business saw material growth, with assets under management increasing from £37 billion to £47 billion.
Mark sits on the Board of the Investment Association and chairs its Sustainability and Responsible Investment Committee.
Mark began his career as a consultant Actuary and gained a diverse experience across markets with investment banking roles in fixed income, equities and capital markets.
Mark has a Mathematics degree from Cambridge University.
Michelle Moran, Partner, K&L Gates
Michelle Moran is a partner and Practice Group Coordinator of the Global Investment Management, Hedge Funds and Alternative Investments practice group at K&L Gates.
Ms. Moran advises European and U.S. clients on the establishment, authorization and management of retail and institutional investment funds in the UK, Ireland, Luxembourg and Jersey. These include UCITS, hedge funds, private funds, investment trusts, real estate funds, segregated institutional portfolios and exchange traded funds. She has worked on a wide variety of transactions involving investment managers, brokers, custodians, fund service providers and operating platforms.
Ms. Moran’s extensive regulatory experience includes having participated on the EU Commission working groups responsible for formulating proposals to change UCITS legislation as well as representing numerous financial institutions on sensitive issues involving EU regulators in both contentious and non-contentious matters.
Ms. Moran has been consistently recognized since 2005, initially as a Hot 100 lawyer and subsequently in Chambers and Legal 500.
Pauline Hawkes-Bunyan, Director of Business: Risk, Culture & Resilience, The Investment Association
Pauline is the Executive Director responsible for the Business: Risk, Culture & Resilience Team at The Investment Association (IA). She supports IA member firms to shape and respond to policy issues that impact on people and their firms.

Pauline’s focus over the last year has been leading the IA’s work to support its members during COVID-19, this work is now looking beyond the pandemic to the IA’s ambitious Future World of Work Programme.
Pauline has spent more than 20 years in the investment management industry seeing industry opportunities and challenges from adviser, in-house and trade body perspectives. Prior to joining the IA, Pauline was a Director at Aviva and a Financial Services Partner at Deloitte.
Julie Chakraverty, CEO, Rungway
Julie Chakraverty is the founder and CEO of Rungway, the workplace advice platform helping global organisations to foster the most inclusive and supportive cultures. Julie is also an experienced non-executive director, and has served on boards including Standard Life Aberdeen, Santander UK, Mitsui Amlin and Spirit Pubs, acquired by Green King. Julie built her career in investment banking where she launched a FinTech portfolio management platform called CreditDelta which won multiple innovation awards.
Siobhan Clarke, Head of International Investment Operations, M&G Investments
Siobhan has worked in the Investment Management industry for over 25 years across the Front Office, Distribution, IT and Operational areas at Morgan Grenfell, Dresdner RCM, Threadneedle Asset Management, Henderson Global Investors, Schroders and M&G. She is currently the Head of International Investment Operations at M&G where she is responsible for building out new capabilities across the Investment business internationally.
She has a Masters degree in Computer Science from UCL and started her career working for a Fintech developing, amongst other solutions, niche and bespoke bond trading solutions for asset managers such as Morgan Grenfell and Deutsche. She regularly provides thought leadership on how technology and data can deliver benefit in Asset Management and she is the chair of Engine, the Investment Association’s Fintech initiative which aims to support Fintech deliver innovation to the Asset Management Industry. She co-chairs the Market Infrastructure sub committee of the Risk Free Rate Working Group, working with the Bank of England and the FCA, and chairs the Bank of England’s task force on Client Onboarding.
Anita Kimber, UK Digital and Innovation Leader, EY
Anita is EY’s European Transformation leader in Financial Services. An open banking champion, she is passionate about facilitating better customer experiences through innovation and creativity.
Anita has a global track record of delivering complex transformations across financial services. She has run and grown large scale consulting practices in IBM and EY, across UK and Asia Pacific. She is active in Fintech and has led research globally on the Fintech agenda; she supported the International Chapter on the Kalifa review.
Her transformation credentials are supported by Strategy and Innovation post graduate study at Oxford University Business School.
Sheldon Mills, Executive Director, Consumers, and Competition, FCA
Sheldon was appointed Executive Director, Consumers and Competition in December 2020. He was previously the Interim Executive Director of Strategy and Competition at the FCA. Sheldon joined the FCA in November 2018.
Previously, as Senior Director at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), Sheldon had overall leadership responsibility for the delivery of UK merger control across the entire economy and for the strategic design and implementation of the new UK State Aid regime. He is a qualified solicitor and prior to joining the CMA he practised law at King & Wood Mallesons and Jones Day, counselling a range of UK and international clients in antitrust and competition law.
Sheldon Mills holds undergraduate and postgraduate law degrees from King’s College, London and was born and raised in Cardiff, Wales.
Jack Knight, Deputy Chief Executive, The Investment Association
Jack Knight is Deputy CEO of the Investment Association with responsibility for Trade & Investment policy, as well as finance and operations, and membership and enterprises functions of the IA.
Jack was previously COO of the IA for four years and held similar positions at the Takeover Panel and within a law firm beforehand.
Bim Afolami MP, House of Commons
Bim Afolami was elected as the Member of Parliament for Hitchin & Harpenden in 2017. He spent ten years in the City first as a corporate lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett, then as a Senior Executive at HSBC. Through this he helped to advise some of the biggest companies in the world, both British and international.
His experience is put to good use in Parliament where he is Chair of several cross-Party groups including the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Renewable and Sustainable Energy, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Credit Unions, and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Financial Markets & Services. He is also co-Chair and Net Zero Champion for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Fair Business Banking.
He is currently the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. He is a programme committee member for the Ditchley Foundation.
Stephen Bird, CEO, Standard Life Aberdeen
Stephen brings an established track record of delivering exceptional value to clients, creating high quality revenue and earnings growth in complex and competitive financial markets, as well as deep experience of business transformation during periods of technological disruption and competitive change.
Stephen joined the Board in July 2020 as Chief Executive-Designate, and was formally appointed Chief Executive Officer in September 2020.
Previously, Stephen served as chief executive officer of global consumer banking at Citigroup from 2015, retiring from the role in November 2019. His responsibilities encompassed all consumer and commercial banking businesses in 19 countries, including retail banking and wealth management, credit cards, mortgages, and operations and technology supporting these businesses. Prior to this, Stephen was chief executive for all of Citigroup’s Asia Pacific business lines across 17 markets in the region, including India and China.
Stephen joined Citigroup in 1998, and during his 21 years with the company he held a number of leadership roles in banking, operations and technology across its Asian and Latin American businesses. Before this, he held management positions in the UK at GE Capital – where he was director of UK operations from 1996 to 1998 – and at British Steel.
He holds an MBA in Economics and Finance from University College Cardiff, where he is also an Honorary Fellow.
Karen Ward, Chief Market Strategist EMEA, J.P. Morgan Asset Management
Karen Ward, Managing Director, is the Chief Market Strategist for EMEA at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Karen has considerable experience in both public policymaking, and economic and financial analysis. Before joining the team in 2017, she was Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers for the Chancellor of the Exchequer. In this role she advised the Chancellor on macroeconomic issues including fiscal strategy and Brexit.Prior to this she worked for a decade at HSBC’s investment bank in a number of roles, including Senior Global Economist where her work included “The World in 2050 – An Analysis of the Structural Changes Affecting the Global Economy and the Rise of the Emerging Economies.” She was Chief European Economist before leaving to work for the Chancellor in 2016. She started her career at the Bank of England providing supporting analysis for the Monetary Policy Committee. Karen has a Masters with Distinction in Economics from University College London.

Dr Linda Yueh is Fellow in Economics at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University, Adjunct Professor of Economics at London Business School, and Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
She is Chair of Baillie Gifford's The Schiehallion Fund Ltd and Non-Executive Director of Rentokil Initial plc, SEGRO plc (from May 1st) and Fidelity China Special Situations plc. She is an Adviser to the UK Board of Trade and Member of the Independent Review Panel on Ring-fencing and Proprietary Trading.
She has written/edited 10 books and her latest book is The Great Economists: How Their Ideas Can Help Us Today, which was The Times’s Best Business Books of the Year, and Newsweek magazine’s Best Books of the Year.
