Gillian Painter, Head of Membership and Engine, The Investment Association
As Head of Membership and Engine, Gillian is a senior member of the IA Enterprises management team. Engine is the IA’s Innovation hub and FinTech accelerator. Since its launch in October 2019, Gillian has managed the growth of Engine which now encompasses an ecosystem of over 130 firms, innovator programmes, as well as a regional co-working hub in Birmingham and an international programme. Engine is focused on innovation and transformation for the investment management and wealth sectors providing an extensive programme of thought leadership, resources and connectivity. Gillian has a strong experience in technology having worked in technical and operational roles for global IT and telecom firms.

 

Simon Bollans, Partner, Stephenson Harwood
Simon is a commercial lawyer with a focus on IT transactions and emerging technologies. He has significant experience advising on complex IT and managed services arrangements, BPO/IT outsourcings, and systems integration and digital transformation projects. Simon also advises on software licensing, data protection compliance, cyber security, and new disruptive technologies, such as AI and machine learning.

 

John Bowman, AI Ethics Market Strategy Lead, IBM Chief Privacy Office, IBM UK
John Bowman joined IBM’s Office of Privacy and Responsible Technology (OPRT) in October 2022 as AI Ethics Market Strategy Lead. His role includes advising on enhancements to support regulatory compliance, helping to create a deployment framework, and commercialisation of select IBM OPRT assets. Previously, John was a Senior Principal in IBM Promontory, having joined the company in 2014. John’s client engagements included managing privacy change programmes and advising on issues of risk, policy and compliance. Prior to joining IBM Promontory, John worked at the UK Ministry of Justice where he was Head of EU and International Data Protection Policy. In this role, he served as the UK government’s lead negotiator on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).


Ángel Agudo, Chief Product Officer & Board Director, Clarity AI
Ángel Agudo leads the strategic direction and development of the company's product portfolio, an
award-winning set of tech solutions for sustainability data analytics and reporting.
He joined Clarity AI as the Head of Research in 2017 when the company was created. Ángel is a
featured speaker at prominent industry conferences and events, including Money 20/20, CFA
Institute, Reuters, and MIT Fintech conferences, and has been quoted in international publications
such as the Financial Times, Entrepreneur, and Fast Company.
He served as a visiting fellow at the Harvard University Center for Climate, Health, and the Global
Environment, and holds a degree in Telecommunication Engineering and Business Administration,
MSc in Innovation Management, and a PhD in Economics from UPM.
