Aiden McEvoy, Head of the Asset Management & Funds Department, FCA
Aidan McEvoy is Head of the Asset Management & Funds Department in the FCA’s Wholesale Buy-Side Division. He’s been at the FCA (and before that the FSA) since 2012, holding several roles focused on shaping the supervisory strategy for the asset management industry, leading projects, managing firm relationships and delivering important supervisory and regulatory outcomes. Based out of the FCA’s Edinburgh office, Aidan’s senior leadership role sees him work with internal and a wider range of external stakeholders to maximise the organisation’s presence in Scotland. Prior to the Regulator, Aidan spent over 5 years at Morgan Stanley, his last few years in the firm’s investment front office. Aidan has an MSc in Finance and Economic Development and an MA in Economics. Outside of the FCA, he is a Trustee on the Board of the charity, Down’s Syndrome Scotland; a position he has had since 2019 and is a Leader of his son’s Scouts group.
Andrew Ninian, Director of Stewardship, Risk and Tax , The Investment Association
Andrew is responsible for representing The Investment Association members interests as institutional investors on stewardship and corporate governance matters. Andrew also has executive team responsibility for the IA’s Risk and Tax Unit focussing on business risks affecting member firms. Andrew is responsible for working with members to set the IA guidelines for investee companies and has oversight of The IA's voting research service IVIS, including company consultation and engagement. Andrew also oversees the IA’s work on helping to improve member practices on stewardship and policy development on stewardship and corporate governance matters. Andrew joined The Investment Association in June 2014, through merger of the Investment Affairs division of the ABI with the IMA. Andrew read Economics at the University of Bath. Andrew is a member of the FTSE Russell Policy Advisory Board and the Advisory Panel to the FTSE Women Leaders Review.
Barry Muir, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, EMEA, State Street
Barry Muir is Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of State Streets Operations in EMEA. Barry joined State Street in 2003 from Deutsche Banks as part of State Streets acquisition of Deutsche Bank’s securities services business. Barry also has responsibility for State Street’s Global Transfer Agency Operations . Barry has spent his entire career in the asset servicing business having previously held senior operational and client management positions within Bankers Trust and Deutsche Bank prior to him joining State Street in 2003.
Barry was a long serving board member of Scottish Financial Enterprise which is the primary industry body representing financial services in Scotland. Barry was also a founder of the Financial Services Advisory Board which is the joint government and financial services industry committee, set up and chaired by the Scottish First Minister.
Chris Hewitt, Head of Tax, The Investment Association
Chris has recently stepped into the Investment Association's Head of Tax role having joined the UK Investment Management trade body back in 2020. At the IA Chris has responsibility for all tax-related policy areas of the organisation; including Withholding Taxes, VAT, Corporation Tax, Stamp, Capital Gains Tax and supports on wider product related topics initiatives like ISAs, Pensions, Tokenisation and UK funds. Before the Investment Association Chris worked across a number of the large US banks including State Street, BNY and JPMorgan, focusing primarily on fund taxation.
Galina Dimitrova, Director of Investment and Capital Markets, The Investment Association
Galina is a Director of Investment & Capital Markets at the Investment Association (the “IA”) and a member of the IA Executive Committee. In her role, she has overall responsibility for the IA’s work on investments and capital markets, including representing investors' interests in the efficient functioning of markets and quality of asset classes, such as Equity, Fixed-income, FX, Infrastructure, and Private Markets. She also has oversight of all IA Special Committees and ETFs, as well as all trading, market infrastructure and investment operations’ matters relevant to IA members. Central to her portfolio is helping members with the evolving Sustainability & Responsible Investment landscape, including the growth of responsible investment products and strategies, our clients’ changing preference and working together towards an economy, society and planet fit for the future. Prior to joining the IA in 2014, Galina worked in the investment banking industry and has over 10 years’ experience advising financial institutions across the world on M&A, capital raisings and restructurings, with a particular focus on emerging markets. Galina sits on the Bank of England FX Joint Standing Committee and TheCityUK Board of Directors. She is also a member of the UK Risk Free Rate Working Group and the FCA’s Disclosures & Labels Advisory Group.
Hannah Marwood, Head of Government Affairs, The Investment Association
Hannah Marwood leads the Investment Association’s government affairs strategy, ensuring that policymakers and regulators understand the vital role of the UK asset management industry. Since joining the IA in 2018, Hannah has driven engagement with government and stakeholders on key policy issues affecting investment firms. Prior to this, Hannah was Associate Director at Teneo Blue Rubicon, advising major financial services clients on public affairs and reputation management.
Jack Knight, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, The Investment Association
As Deputy CEO, Jack helps to lead the IA Executive Committee. He is responsible for international trade & investment policy and activity, as well as the organisation’s finance, HR, IT, and membership functions, including the IA Enterprises events, training, and Engine business lines. Jack is Company Secretary and secretary to the IA Board Committees. He was previously COO at the Takeover Panel, the UK's regulator of takeovers and mergers. Jack has an MA from Cambridge University and an MAP certificate from Said Business School, Oxford University. Jack was previously COO of the IA for four years and held similar positions at the Takeover Panel and within a law firm beforehand.
The Rt Hon Jim Murphy, Former UK Cabinet Minister and Founder and Executive Chair, Arden Strategies
A member of His Majesty’s Privy Council, Jim served as a Labour MP for over two decades. He held multiple ministerial portfolios, including as Minister for Europe and Minister for Employment and Welfare Reform. He went on to serve as Secretary of State for Scotland before becoming Leader of the Scottish Labour Party. Jim’s unique experience and connectivity enables him to provide trusted senior counsel to Arden’s clients, including several FTSE100 CEOs.
Jonathan Lipkin, Director of Policy, Strategy and Innovation, The Investment Association
Jonathan is Director of Policy, Strategy and Innovation at The Investment Association (IA) and a longstanding member of the IA's Executive Committee. Jonathan’s role focuses on helping the investment management industry to best serve its customer markets at a time of accelerating change. The PSI Division has evolved into a multi-disciplinary and diverse team that covers a wide range of policy and regulation affecting the industry, including competition, communication, financial stability and fund governance, as well as the broader shape of pensions and long-term savings markets. It also houses a specialist Innovation and Operations Unit to assist the industry in adapting to new technologies and help shape the broader landscape. Jonathan joined the IA in 2005, becoming Director of Public Policy and a member of the IA Executive Committee in 2012. Prior to 2005, he worked for a number of years at Oxford Analytica, a geopolitical analysis and advisory firm. At OA, he led European political and economic analysis serving a wide range of corporate and government clients, both domestic and overseas. Jonathan is a Board Member of the Cost Transparency Initiative, Chair of the EFAMA Pensions Group, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Asset Management Research at Bayes Business School. He writes and speaks regularly both in the UK and abroad on investment management and pensions issues.
Miranda Seath, Director of Market Insight and Fund Sectors, The Investment Association
Miranda leads the team analysing data and trends in UK investment management, producing evidence-based insight to support the IA’s policy agenda. The division provides insight to members and external stakeholders through the Investment Management Survey, retail funds market commentary and investor research. Miranda is also responsible for the IA Sectors, the fund classification scheme designed to help UK investors navigate the retail fund universe. Miranda joined the IA in May 2019. Before joining, she was Research Director at Platforum and NextWealth, research and consulting firms focused on retail investment distribution.
Molly Nolan, Senior Government Affairs Manager, The Investment Association
Molly sits in the UK Government Affairs team at the Investment Association, where she manages industry engagement with the UK and Scottish Governments, in addition to parliamentarians, regulators, and other public sector bodies. Before joining the IA, Molly served as an elected councillor in the Highlands and worked for a Scottish MP, as well as sitting on the Our Scottish Future advisory board. She holds a BA from Harvard University.
Shrena Fraser Johnson, Culture, Talent and Inclusion Specialist, The Investment Association
Shrena Fraser Johnson is the Culture, Talent and Inclusion Specialist at the Investment Association, the trade body that represents UK investment managers. Shrena is focused on UK culture and conduct, as well as employment and inclusion policy in the financial sector. Shrena oversees the IA’s HR Committee and leads on the IA’s Talent Survey and Report which was first launched in 2023.
She has a BA in political science from the University at Albany, NY and a law degree from Howard University School of Law in Washington, DC.
